Alpaca

Alpaca (Vicugna pacos) is a species of camelid, found in countries like New Zealand, Australia, Peru, Chile etc. And just like sheep's wool, alpaca is used for its fiber. The fiber is used for making woolen garments and other items like blankets, bedding etc.

Against this backdrop, SGNCO offers alpaca fiber testing and expert analysis to ensure the quality of fiber. We have advanced labs to test fiber (fleece) samples of individual alpaca, as per the international norms. We conduct tests on the following parameters:
  • Mean Fiber Diameter (MFD) ? Histogram (for diameter evenness/variability)
  • Standard Deviation of Diameter (SD)
  • Coefficient of Variation of Diameter (CVD)
  • Comfort Factor (CF)
  • Diameter - Length Profile

However, among the above-mentioned measurements, MFD and CVD are two of the most important parameters. We also generate statistical data and offer comprehensive analysis based on the variation in values of CVD.

Analysis / Quality Assessment

SGNCO offers fast and accurate analysis/quality assessment services related to a wide range of agricultural commodities. Depending upon the commodity, the analysis or the assessment can be carried out in factory, store, quay, sampling room and laboratories.

Our interventions cover each aspect related to qualitative specifications of goods. SGNCO has its own specialized laboratories to ensure accelerated analysis/quality assessment results. All our laboratories have accreditation from national and international authorities.

Analytical Chemistry

At SGNCO, analytical chemistry is one of the most important fields of activity. We are committed for the consistent development and optimization of analysis methods. Our team of experienced analytical chemists and laboratory staff is competent enough to adapt to both traditional and new methods of analysis.

All the residue projects for product development are carried out in conformation with GLP principles. We have expertise on active agents specifically in the areas of pesticides, biocides, animal, human drugs and fertilizers.

SGNCO, also, has a team of experts for the analysis of environmental contamination including pesticide monitoring. We provide residue analyses using latest methods such as:
  • LC/MS/MS
  • GC/MSD, GC/MS/MS, GC- ECD, GC-NPD, GC-FPD
  • HPLC, LC/MS
  • Flow Switching Procedure
  • Postcolumn Derivatisation
  • IC, AAS, ICP
  • Purge & Trap Systems, ASE
  • Immunoassay

Services Offered:
  • Determination of the residues in plants, soil, water, air, animal matrices, commodities etc.
  • Analysis of minor constituents and contaminants
  • Ecotoxicology
  • Investigation of storage stability
  • Determination of content
  • Accompanying analytics
  • 5-batch analysis
  • Investigation of product equivalence
  • Laboratory validation

Bulk Wool Testing

We offer testing of wool samples to determine their Bulk. The term Bulk for a fiber assembly is determined by finding the hold air capacity or space-filling capability. Bulk is considered to be the internationally recognised measurement of wool, destined for products like carpets, yarns, hand knitting yarns etc.

After sampling, we carefully scour, dry, open and condition the samples under completely controlled conditions. Thereafter, test specimens of precise mass are put through a specified load cycling process for the measurement of the bulk (in CC/g).
